Foreign Aid Should Go Both Ways

When New Orleans was flooded the other Nations of the World sent a combined total of about a half billion dollars to the victims who lost almost everything due to a natural disaster. I recently saw a news item that was most upsetting to me.

It seems that the Secretary of State, Ms. Rice, simply refused that Foreign Aid, saying to a reporter: "The United States doesn't accept Foreign Aid because we never before took such donations." Yes, that's what she said, or words to that effect. You see, I couldn't believe my ears and I was so shocked that I couldn't remember her exact words.

So, where did that $500,000,000 go? Was it returned, or did someone within the State Department simply discard all non-cash donations or put that money in the Treasure? That aid was supposed to go to people who lost almost everything, not our Government.

If someone sent me a Christmas present from Europe, would our Government simply keep it for itself? I don't see any real difference between the two. Then again, I wonder how many thousands of our own people are still suffering without help from anyone because of that natural disaster?

Apparently, the Citizen of our Country are good for nothing more than joining the military so that they can safeguard the assets of multinational corporations who have taken away millions of jobs from us. One thing for sure, when our Government refuses $500,000,000 of aid for truly hurt people within our own Country, something is wrong somewhere.
